Today is an historic day for Aotearoa New Zealand, as Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti come together, united in the protection and affirmation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The hikoi represents a powerful call of Kotahitanga – coming together to join in a collective journey towards equity, justice, and unity.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi is more than a document; it is the foundation of our nation, a living covenant of partnership, respect, and shared purpose. Today, we reaffirm its place at the heart of Aotearoa's identity.
This moment is a reminder that we all have a role to play in this ongoing journey. By honouring Te Tiriti, we honour each other, the whenua, and the aspirations of those who came before us, as well as those who will inherit this land after us.
Together, let us protect, uphold, and embody Te Tiriti in our mahi, our decisions, and our communities. #HonourTeTiriti
