Central Plateau REAP runs a variety of courses and events designed to meet the needs of our  community.

Te Reo – For Beginners

An entry level programme for those wanting an introduction to te reo, you will learn pronunciation, greetings, waiata, karakia, pepeha and tikanga.

This course is ideal for people who enjoy learning in small groups.

This is a part-time programme – 2 to 3 hours per week – and may be offered in Taupō and Waitetoko.

TE REO – FOR intermediate/ADVANCED BEGINNERS

Designed for those who are ready for the next stage in their te reo journey.

On this course you will strengthen your pronunciation, greetings, waiata, karakia, pepeha and move onto sentence structure, leading to basic conversational reo.

This is a part-time programme – 2 to 3 hours per week – and may be offered in Waitetoko.

INTRODUCTION TO SIGN LANGUAGE (NZSL)

This is an entry level course for those interested in learning one of New Zealand’s official languages.

In this course you will learn how to sign the NZSL alphabet, greet people using sign language and to have conversations about your interests, wants and needs.

This is a part-time programme – 1½ hours per week – and may be offered in Taupō and Tūrangi.

RARANGA HARAKEKE

An entry level programme to teach you some basic weaving techniques and finishes, how to sustainably cut flax and the tikanga involved.

Make putiputi (flower), kono (basket) and other items of interest. Bring kai to share. 4 hours per week this programme is offered in Taupō and may be offered in Mangakino.
