Whānau services

Central Plateau REAP is committed to supporting rangatahi and their whānau achieve their aspirations. We do this in a variety of ways, including supporting attendance at school, mentoring services and Strengthening Families. We work closely with schools, Oranga Tamariki and other service agencies to ensure that all young people of our district have an opportunity to thrive.

RANGATAHI MENTORING

Our team of mentors provide one on one support to rangatahi aged 11 to 16.

Our dedicated team of mentors provides personalised one-on-one support to rangatahi aged 11 to 16. Our primary aims are to advance positive outcomes for these young individuals and help them progress toward their aspirations. The mentorship program is tailored to each rangatahi, with specific activities, goals, and structures designed to suit their unique needs and circumstances.

Entry into this program is through referral from Oranga Tamariki. For further inquires please contact the REAP office on 07- 378 8109 or email reception@reapcentralplateau.nz

TRANSITION TO ADULTHOOD

We support young people aged 17 to 24 who are transitioning out of Oranga Tamariki care into adulthood.

Our Transition Services offer comprehensive and compassionate support for young people aged 15 to 25 who are leaving Oranga Tamariki care or a youth justice residence program. Recognising the challenges faced by young individuals moving from care to independent living, our flexible service focuses on meeting their specific needs. Key features of our support include responsive, relationship-based assistance, unconditional support regardless of behaviour or decisions, and coordination of necessary resources from their communities, such as whānau, hapū, iwi, and adult services.

Referrals to this program are made through Oranga Tamariki. For further inquiries please contact the REAP office on 07- 378 8109 or email reception@reapcentralplateau.nz

STRENGTHENING FAMILIES

We aim to meet the unique needs of each family, building on their strengths and working to achieve their goals and aspirations, with support from health, social services, education and other services working together.

Strengthening Families offers help and support before a family has serious problems requiring intensive or statutory intervention. By promoting cooperation between community organisations, social services, and government agencies, everyone involved works more collaboratively with each other, with the families involved at the heart of the process and in a decision-making position (ie things happen with the whānau, not to the whānau).

We believe that networking among the services in the community is paramount for positive outcomes for families. We run quarterly community provider networking meetings at Central Plateau REAP to provide updates on the services and programmes available.

For more information, contact the Strengthening Families Co-ordinator by email sftaupo@reapcentralolateau.nz or phone 07 348 8109 or visit the Strengthening Families website www.strengtheningfamilies.govt.nz

WANANGA

All rangatahi who engage with us in one or more of the above programmes have an opportunity to attend wānanga. There are a range of wananga that we deliver or support. These wananga create an opportunity for a new experience that our rangatahi may not get to experience.
